The Struggle Is Real

You know what is an absolute bullshit question that serves no purpose whatsoever? “What do you want out of life?” No matter the answer it is complete and utter garbage. Go ahead, give it a try…
Question: “What do you want out of life?”
Response: “I want to live a happy life. I want to have a good job, a nice house, and drive a cool car. I want to be married with kids and have a wonderful relationship. I want to live a healthy and long life.”
Wow! No shit! YOU want to be happy? Who doesn’t? Is there anything profound in that answer? No! Did we learn anything about ourselves? Not a thing! By providing an answer are we in a better spot to understand how to achieve these goals? Not even close!
Instead, we should be asking ourselves what are we willing to struggle for? In an age of instant gratification, people are in love with only the victory, not the fight. Sorry, life doesn’t work like that. Life is not rainbows and unicorns. Life is weaving in and out of the traffic jam of dookie that gets thrown your way each and every day.
Strife is a necessary evil for true happiness. Somewhere buried deep below the malarkey is your very own yellow brick road to whatever you are looking for. To get there you have to willing to handle the bullshit.
You don’t have an awesome relationship without having more than a few difficult conversations. You don’t achieve your ideal physique without diet and exercise. You can’t become a surgeon without first graduating from medical school.
Point blank, your struggles determine your success. So ask yourself, “What are you willing to struggle for?”
